Eight U.K. hotels to fly DoubleTree, Garden Inn flags

Hilton Worldwide said it will convert eight Mint Hotel properties in the U.K. to its DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn brands. The hotels were purchased earlier this year by Hilton’s parent company, the Blackstone Group.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for Europe and Africa, says the DoubleTree and Garden Inn brands “have tremendous traction across Europe,” and the hotels will “promptly join our brands with a fast-track transition program.”

Three former Mint locales in London, along with hotels in Leeds and Manchester, will operate as DoubleTree locales; while properties in Glasgow, Scotland; and Bristol and Birmingham, England, will fly the Garden Inn flag. The deal brings the total number of hotels under Hilton’s management to more than 320 properties throughout the U.K. and Europe.

Other European additions to the Hilton portfolio in the near future will include the Hampton by Hilton London Croydon, DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle Airport, Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport and the Waldorf Astoria Berlin.
