Luxury lifestyle hotel to open in former Embassy Suites

Hilton Worldwide will open its first Conrad Hotels & Resorts property in New York in late 2011. Located at the current site of the Embassy Suites New York, the Conrad will house 463 luxury rooms in the city's Financial District.

John T. A. Vanderslice, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Worldwide, said the opening of the Conrad New York “is an important strategic milestone for us as we continue to grow this brand. It will provide an impeccable luxury experience to the most discerning business and leisure travelers. As we continue to strategically grow the Conrad brand, we seek only the world's most desirable locations, and New York City is certainly one of the most desirable. The Conrad New York is a great addition to the brand's philosophy, ‘The Luxury of Being Yourself.'”

The property's sunlit, 15-story atrium lobby features a dramatic Sol LeWitt art piece rising 13 floors above the check-in desk. Guest rooms will be an average of more than 550 square feet, a minimum of two flat panel televisions and a full complement of contemporary electronic features. The hotel will also house several upscale dining and beverage outlets. Interior design for the Conrad is being styled by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Office dA and Remedios Studios.

The New York locale will be the fifth Conrad property in the United States and its territories; the others are in Miami, Chicago, Indianapolis and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
