OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS AND BRAND NEWS:
Joie de Vivre has completed a multi-million dollar renovation of the Santa Cruz Dream Inn in California. The 18-month makeover was accomplished in two phases and includes upgrades to all 165 guestrooms and suites, as well as makeovers of the hotel's lobby and pool area. Also in California, The Inns of Monterey has opened the 93-room Hotel Abrego in the former Sand Dollar Inn on the Monterey Peninsula.
The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans for the Park Inn Tete in Mozambique, Africa. The 116-room property is slated to open in late 2010.
The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay, is now open on a 24-acre oceanfront site on Maui, Hawaii. The property is home to 62 two- and three-bedroom fractional ownership residences.
Radisson Hotels & Resorts has opened the 100-room, all-suite Radisson Plaza Mississauga at the Toronto Airport.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to develop two new Holiday Inn hotels in Central America, as part of a seven property deal with the Hotel Division of San Salvador-based Grupo AGRISAL. The first pair of properties to be built includes a six-story full-service Holiday Inn in San Jose, Costa Rica, that will open in 2010, and a 13-story Holiday Inn Express in San Salvador, El Salvador, that is slated to open in 2011.
Meantime, in Europe, IHG and Crimson Hotels Group have signed a franchise agreement for a 300-room Holiday Inn Express at London Heathrow Terminal 5. When that property opens in 2011, it will be the largest member of that flag on the Continent. And in the U.S., Crestline Hotels & Resorts Inc. has opened the 144-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The renovated property, owned by Weatherly Investment Associates LLC, was previously the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Surfside.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts has opened the 299-room, full-service integrated Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and Lancaster County Convention Center, comprising a combined 90,000 square feet of meeting space, in Pennsylvania.
HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:
Hilton Hotels Corp. (Beverly Hills, Calif.) has hired Matthew Schuyler as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. Schuyler was previously with Capital One Financial Corp.
The Dow Hotel Co. LLC (Seattle) a hotel ownership, investment and management company, has promoted Randall King to vice president of marketing & revenue development.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (White Plains, N.Y.) has launched of a newly expanded web site for its Aloft Hotels brand that features a range of interactive features
HELPING OUT:
Hotels that Help (San Francisco)a fundraising system that brings hotel staff and guests together in support of local community charities, has launched its drive to enroll 1,000 hotels raising $10 million annually by 2010. Jim Abrams, the recentlyretired ceo of the California Hotel & Lodging Association, will lead the rollout of this new, nonprofit guest-giving system.
Da-Lite Screen Co. (Warsaw, Ind.), a manufacturer of projection screens, received the NEC Best of InfoComm Award for its JKP Affinity Screens from NEC Display Solutions of America (Itasca, Ill.). Da-Lite donated the $25,000 prize from NEC to the InfoComm Education Foundation and agreed to match the gift.
Great Grabz (Naples, Fla.) has launched its "Great Grabz Gives" campaign to donate 2,500 decorative grab-bars to community organizations across the U.S. and Canada that are doing home modifications for those in need.
