InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed two new Hotel Indigo properties in Glasgow and Liverpool. The 96-room Hotel Indigo Glasgow, to be operated by IHG franchisee Chardon Management, is scheduled to open mid-2010; while the 151-key Hotel Indigo Liverpool, to be owned by IHG franchisee Sanguine Hospitality, is slated to open in spring 2011.

“Now is an ideal time for us to continue to grow the Hotel Indigo brand across Europe,” said Kirk Kinsell, IHG's president for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Signing these two new hotels in the current climate shows we have the right strategy for growing the brand.

The Hotel Indigo chain currently consists of 27 hotels in North America, with 59 more planned around the world. The brand began its global roll out at the start of this year, with the opening of Hotel Indigo London Paddington in January .
