HBA to partner with local firm on property’s design

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement with Piyasombat Property Co. Ltd. to open the first Hotel Indigo in Southeast Asia. The 188-key Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road is slated to open in late 2012.

The hotel will be located on Wireless Road, which is home to Bangkok's diplomatic district as well as high-end residences, retail and office spaces, restaurants and entertainment outlets. “Bangkok is a strong market for boutique hotel products,” said Jan Smits, Managing Director, IHG Asia Australasia. “Hotel Indigo offers an intimate, boutique experience with the added benefits of being part of a large international hotel company - a model that's generated high customer satisfaction and good returns for our owners internationally.”

Each Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the culture, character and history of the property's locality to ensure no two hotels are the same. Design for the Bangkok project will be lead by hospitality design firm HBA, in collaboration with local architecture firm A49. The hotel's restaurant and bar will be designed by Diffusion, a joint-venture between HBA and Avroko, a design and concept firm.

Other Hotel Indigos in the region will include the Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund, which is scheduled to open in September, and six other planned locales in Asia.
