The hotel construction pipeline in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) fell to 1,656 projects/358,067 rooms at the end of 2008's third quarter, Lodging Econometrics reports. The project count represents a 6 percent drop from the second quarter, while total rooms dipped 4 percent. Lodging Econometrics notes that those numbers are in line with expectations that as more hotels are finished and demand for rooms remains weak, fewer new project announcements will be made in 2009.
