OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS AND BRAND NEWS :

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has opened the 142-room Park Hyatt Jeddah-Marina Club and Spa, its first property in Saudi Arabia. French interior designer Gilles Quiffet and architect Patrice Hart created an intimate and residential-style environment, including guest rooms and suites that fuse a sleek European style with Arab-Andalusian architecture.

Albert Roux , the legendary French chef, has opened his first U.S. restaurant, Chez Roux, at the exclusive La Torretta Del Lago Resort & Spa near Houston.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced that the first Hotel Indigo in the Asia Pacific market -- the 180-room Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund -- will be designed by HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates.

An 11-story, 76-room Holiday Inn Express has opened in Bogota, that flag's second property in Colombia. The new hotel is owned and managed by Grupo Contempo S.A., under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans for the Al Muna Karim Radisson Blu Hotel in Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The 322 room-property, scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year, is Rezidor's 10th property in the country.

The Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Westside in Culver City, Calif., has completed a $2 million renovation of its lobby and restaurant areas created by Planning Design & Applications Inc.

HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:

Interstate Hotels & Resorts (Arlington, Va.) has hired Michele Reing as senior vice president and corporate controller.

T.G.I. Friday's International (Carollton, Texas) has appointed Jean Baudrand vice president, international business development.

The Santa Catalina Island Co. (Avalon, Calif.) has hired John Dravinski as its coo.

BUSINESS BRIEFS:

Empire Resorts Inc. (Monticello, N.Y.) has entered an agreement with a subsidiary of Delaware North Cos. (Buffalo, N.Y.) to manage the Monticello Casino & Raceway. The agreement runs for three years and includes marketing and strategic advisory services.

The Hyatt Regency Tampa has received a "Two Palm" designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Green Lodging Program for its energy conservation and pollution-prevention measures.

VENDOR NEWS:

Meld USA (Raleigh, N.C.), manufacturer of ecoX countertop slabs, has entered a partnership with CaraGreen (Carrboro, NC.) a distributor of sustainable architectural materials.

SALTO Systems Mexico, a producer of access-control systems for hotels and other commercial customers, has moved to a new headquarters in Cancun.

HELPING OUT:

Bulbrite (Moonachie, N.J.) and WAC Lighting (Garden City, N.Y.) have teamed to donate compact fluorescent lamps to Peace House, an emergency shelter operated by the New York Asian Women's Center.
