Punta Piqueros hotel will be company’s tenth in country
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) said it has signed a 20-year management agreement with Chile-based Inmobiliaria Punta Piqueros S.A. to manage a new-build InterContinental hotel in Punta Piqueros, Chile. The 140-room property will overlook the Pacific Ocean at a site in north-Central Chile that's near the Viña del Mar resort area.
The property will feature a 10,000-sq.-ft. resort-style gym and spa with an accompanying indoor/outdoor pool and sauna, along with 9,500 square feet of meeting space, two restaurants, a lobby bar and wine bar. Construction is underway with an estimated opening date of January 2013.
The hotel will be the tenth IHG property in Chile, where the company already operates an existing InterContinental locale, along with a Crowne Plaza, a Holiday Inn and six Holiday Inn Expresses. “Chile is and always has been a strategic market for us,” says Jim Anhut, Chief Development Officer, IHG, Americas. “The opportunity to further our portfolio in Chile through this iconic resort property is an important demonstration of our commitment to growth in the Southern Cone.”
