InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is on track to nearly double its 241-hotel presence in Asia Pacific by 2010. The group reports 177 hotels and 58,172 rooms under development across five of its brands. InterContinental, IHG's luxury brand, will expand its 38 hotel portfolio with 33 new openings over the next three years. Eleven will be resorts. The biggest target is China, where the five-star flag will grow from six to 18 hotels by the end of next year. Upscale Crowne Plaza will add 58 properties to its existing 64. Sixty-three Holiday Inns are under way, building on a 96-strong portfolio. Holiday Inn Express is heading for a growth spurt, with 23 new sister hotels being added to the 22 currently open. Hotel Indigo, IHG's lifestyle flag, is scheduled to debut in Shanghai in 2010.
