InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a deal with Shimao Group to open six new hotels under three brands in China by 2013. The InterContinental Beijing City Centre is scheduled to open in 2012 with 330 rooms, and the 380-room InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is slated to open in 2013 as part of Shanghai Shimao Wonderland theme park. Also in 2013, the 360-room InterContinental Fuzhou and the 460-room Crowne Plaza Shaoxing are scheduled to debut. Two Holiday Inn brands-the 310-room Holiday Inn Shaoxing and the 260-room Holiday Inn Mudanjiang-are both set to open in 2012. IHG already has a major presence in China, and expects to have more than 100 hotels operating there by year-end.
