HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/EXECUTIVE CHANGES

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hired Joel Eisemann, who spent nearly 29 years in several senior management roles at Marriott, as senior vice president and chief development officer Americas. IHG also promoted Jim Anhut to senior vice president Americas brand management. Anhut has been with the company for 15 years, and launched Hotel Indigo.

Jupiter Hotels Ltd. appointed Andrew Gill as interim ceo. Gill was previously with Intercontinental Hotels Group.

The Mohawk Group hired Susan Curtis as senior director of color and design. Her experience includes stints with Invista, Atlas Carpet Mills and Bentley Carpet Mills.

DiLeonardo International hired Serene Lee as managing director of its Asia Pacific region. Lee, who is based in Hong Kong, was formerly director of interiors/operations for HOK’s Asia Pacific Region.

HITT Contracting Inc.’s senior vice president Peter Lanfranchi has been tapped to lead the company’s national hospitality sector.

HomeRun Holdings Corp. has hired Gene Demestre as business director commercial and hospitality for QMotionTM, the firm’s motorized-shade division. Demestre was formerly the president and ceo of window covering firm Alkenz USA.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles has completed a renovation of its 1,354 keys, lobby court/lounge, LA Prime restaurant, BonaVista lounge, front desk, outdoor pool, and meeting, event and banquet space.

L'Auberge de Sedona, a luxury inn, spa and restaurant in Arizona, has completed a $25 million, multi-phase renovation that involved its guest rooms and spa, along with the addition of 30 luxury cottages. 

BRIO Tuscan Grille opened a restaurant at the Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton, N.J.

MANAGEMENT CONTRACTS/ACQUISITIONS

LaSalle Hotel Properties has acquired the 182-key Villa Florence hotel in the Union Square district of San Francisco for $67.2 million.

A Hyatt Hotels affiliate signed an agreement with Msheireb Hospitality to manage the 181-key Park Hyatt Doha, which is currently under construction and will open in mid-2016.

Salamander Hotels & Resorts will manage the 176-key Sanctuary Cap Cana. Salamander will transition the resort from its current couples-only format to a traditional luxury hotel.

Gemstone Hotels & Resorts has been contracted to manage the 404-key Zermatt Resort and Spa and the 121-key Homestead Resort, both in Midway, Utah. 

Auberge Resorts will assume management of the 94-key Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo.

Brazil Hospitality Group took over the management of a hotel complex in Sao Conrado, Rio de Janeiro, and rebranded the hotel as the 418-key Royal Tulip Rio de Janeiro. The property was formerly managed by Intercontinental Hotels Group.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Shafer Commercial Seating has joined The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium as a contributing member. The collaborative group helps hotel owners purchase products that reduce environmental impact and contribute to guest well-being.

AWARDS

Bilkey Llinas Design (BLD) was named best hospitality design institution Asia by the Asia Hotel Forum at the International Hotel Investment Summit at the Park Hyatt Beijing. BLD designer Robert Bilkey was also named designer of the year.
