The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) says the hospitality industry may be not be prepared in time for Commonwealth Games, to be held in New Delhi in 2010. Sunit Kothari, FHRAI executive member, said unless the government simplifies and expedites the building process, New Delhi will not be able to provide the 12,000 rooms necessary to host guests and athletes. FHRAI officials expressed a need for mid-tier and economy lodgings, arguing that while luxury accommodations are abundant, budget travelers will be priced out of the market.
