California-based SweetSweat Spa eyes up to 300 locales
How's this for a small spa business with big plans: SweetSweat Spa, which currently operates two locales in Southern California, is launching a franchise program that it says could result in the creation of up to 300 locations, The Orange County Register reports. SweetSweat Spa's specialty is infrared saunas, which use invisible infrared light to raise patrons' core body temperature 3 degrees and produces a sweat. In addition, the infrared saunas also raises customers' heart rates 50 to 75 percent, which induces a calorie burn, Alex Samios, SweetSweat Spa's founder, told the newspaper.
