Locale housed in renovated palace
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the InterContinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas in Portugal. The 105-room, 16-suite hotel owned by Solitarie Hotels is housed in a renovated 200-year-old palace.
"It's a privilege to open a hotel in a former palace," says Pilar Monzon, the hotel’s general manager. "We're in the heart of Porto which has so much to offer for both national and international travelers."
Designed by Russian architect Alex Kravetz, the hotel features high ceilings and Portuguese décor. Other amenities include 633 sq. ft. of meeting space, a gym and wellness center, Café Astoria and a restaurant and bar serving Portuguese cuisine.
There are currently 171 InterContinental hotels around the world and 60 in the development pipeline, which will open in the next two to three years.
