HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS

Bill DeForrest, president and ceo of Lane Hospitality, has assumed chairmanship of the IHG Owners' Association's (IAHI) board of directors.

Interstate Hotels & Resorts hired Martin Reid as executive vice president, development and acquisitions.

Hilton Worldwide promoted Matt Wehling and Ted Ent as vice presidents and managing directors, development, for the Northwest and Southwest U.S., respectively.

TPG Architecture hired Mavis Wiggins as a studio design director.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts plans to open the Hyatt Escala Lodge at Park City in late November. The 178-key condominium hotel is located at the base of the Sunrise Chairlift in the Canyons Resort in Utah.

The Westin Tabor Center has been renamed The Westin Denver Downtown to better identify the property's locale for out-of-town travelers booking their accommodations online.

The Hyatt Regency New Orleans, which will reopen in fall 2011, has hired branding firm Blue Cover to reposition the hotel as the host of self-contained meetings, as well as catering to business and leisure travelers.

IHG and The Kessler Collection announced that The Castle Hotel in Orlando, Fla., will be rebranded as a Holiday Inn Resort.

John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts recently completed a multimillion dollar remodel of the 142-key Courtyard by Marriott Springfield Airport in Missouri.

The 155-key Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic has joined The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW). The hotel will soon complete a $40 million, two-year renovation.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

A Hyatt affiliate sold the 445-key Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay to an investor account advised by UBS Global Asset Management for $58.5 million.UBS entered a long-term agreement to manage the hotel under the same name, and to fund extensive renovations for the locale.

HVS Capital Corp. has been appointed advisor to Balton Properties to arrange a sale of the 164-key Carlton Savannah Hotel in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Chesapeake Lodging Trust entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the 195-room Homewood Suites by Hilton Seattle Convention Center in Washington for $53 million, or roughly $272,000 per key.

The 1,235-key Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel achieved a 4 Green Key Rating through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program.
