HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:

Hilton Worldwide promoted Rudi Jagersbacher to area president, operations, Middle East and Africa. Jagersbacher will replace Jean-Paul Herzog when he retires at the start of 2011.

B.R. Guest Restaurants has hired Alexandre Gaudelet as its chief operating officer. Gaudelet was previously vice president of food and beverage for the MGM Grand Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The Beck Group has named Fred Perpall, Matt Williamson, Joe Flores and Mark Collins managing directors. 

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has opened the 126-key Hyatt Place Columbus/OSU.

California Pizza Kitchen has opened its first restaurant in India, a 4,000-sq.-ft. locale in Mumbai's Bandra Kula Complex district.

Motel 6 opened these new franchise locations in July: in Wenatchee, Wash.; Des Moines, Iowa; Richburg, S.C.; Suwanee, Ga.; and Moncton, New Brunswick.

The Tropicana Las Vegas announced the opening of Biscayne Steak, Sea & Wine, a South Beach-themed restaurant.

Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design has completed the redesign of the north beachside courtyard at The Lodge & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Genghis Grill has opened its 50th location, in Houston. The chain plans 10 additional restaurants in 2010. 

Prism Hotels and Resorts will take over daily operations at Hilton Pittsburgh. The 712-key hotel is also undergoing exterior renovations which will add a wave-like façade to the building as at tribute to the city's three rivers.

ACQUISITIONS:

LaSalle Hotel Properties has acquired the Hotel Monaco San Francisco for $68.5 million, the Westin Philadelphia for $145.0 million and the Embassy Suites Philadelphia – Center City for $79.0 million. Additionally, LaSalle sold the Seaview Resort for $20 million.

AREA Property Partners assumed ownership of the Makena Beach & Golf Resort in a joint-venture with Honolulu based Trinity Investments and Standford Carr Development. Landmark Hotels Group will take over operations and management.

Hersha Hospitality Trust purchased the Hampton Inn, Washington D.C. for $73 million, or $320,000 per key excluding closing costs.
