REIT acquires 193-key property for $94.5 million
LaSalle Hotel Properties has acquired the leasehold interest in the Hotel Roger Williams in New York for $90 million, plus about $4.5 million in additional costs. The 193-room hotel, at Madison Avenue and 31st Street, was built in the 1930s and converted to a hotel in 1998. The hotel will continue to be managed by JRK Hotel Group Inc.
“We are excited about the acquisition of Hotel Roger Williams and the opportunity to further invest in New York City,” said Michael D. Barnello, pesident and ceo of LaSalle Hotel Properties, a real estate investment trust that owns 34 upscale, full-service hotels. “New York has demonstrated exceedingly strong growth thus far in the recovery, and we believe the outlook for this market is very favorable.”
