HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS

Hersha Hospitality Management hired Gregory Ade as executive vice president of operations and Erik McDonald as executive vice president of sales and marketing.

White Lodging, an independent hospitality development and management company, hired Jean Smith as regional vice president.

W2 Architectural Lighting hired Timothy Vislay as its western regional sales manager.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the five-story, 95-key Holiday Inn Express Staten Island.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open a 260-key Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler in Turkey in fall 2011. The company has also opened the Sheraton Tribeca in New York.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Starwood Capital Group completed the purchase of a loan originally made to the developer of the Viceroy Anguilla Resort in the British West Indies, Barnes Bay Development. Viceroy Hotel Group will continue to manage and operate the 166-key property under the same name.

Miami-based boutique design firm Siskind, Carlson Partners created and conceived plans for the $1 million renovation of the Grace Bay Club resort in the Caribbean.

Jonathan Nehmer + Associates (JN+A) was selected as project manager for the multimillion dollar renovation of the 179-key St. Regis Aspen Resort in Colorado.

Hunter Realty, a hotel investment advisory firm, sold the 124-room Holiday Inn & Suites, Front Royal, Va., to Jericho, New York.-based Navika Capital Group for an undisclosed price.

KnollTextiles has relaunched its web site, www.knolltextiles.com, with e-commerce capabilities

Hotel Asset Value Enhancement, a hotel real estate advisory firm, partnered with an institutional investment fund managed by Fidelity Real Estate Group to acquire the 231-suite Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park, Minn., for an undisclosed amount.

America's Best Franchising sold nine new hotel franchises and opened nine new properties in the third quarter of 2010. The company's brands include America's Best Inns & Suites, Budgetel Inns & Suites, Country Hearth Inns & Suites, Vagabond Inn & Suites and 3 Palms.

EVENTS

The Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) will host its biennial NEWH Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., from Jan.13-16, 2011.

AWARDS

Christopher Nassetta, president and ceo of Hilton Worldwide, will receive the National Italian American Foundation's Special Achievement Award in Business at the 35th Anniversary Awards Gala at the Washington Hilton on Oct. 23.
