Seeks to capitalize on expected influx of business and leisure travelers

Leela Hotels, Palaces & Resorts plans to open six additional luxury hotels in India during the next several years. Slated to open this fall is the 260-key Leela Palace Kempinski New Delhi, followed next year by the 360-room Leela Palace Kempinski Chennai, the first luxury hotel in that city overlooking the Bay of Bengal. After that, the company plans to open hotels in Agra, Hyderabad, Pune and Lake Ashtamudi in Kerala.

“As the Indian economy rebounds and the influx of international business and leisure travelers continues to come to India, we will see a demand and growth in the luxury premium category,” said Vivek Nair, Leela's vice chairman and managing director. “We see this as a tremendous growth opportunity and have invested heavily in the country's various destinations.”
