Hires ex-Interstate exec Paul Whetsell
Loews Hotels has hired Paul Whetsell as president and ceo, effective Jan. 17. Whetsell, who has more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, succeeds Jack Adler, who is retiring from the company. Loews previously said its interim chairman/ceo Jonathan Tisch will retain the role of chairman of Loews Hotels and co-chairman of parent company Loews Corp.’s board after the transition.
Most recently, Whetsell served as a member of Virgin Hotels’ board of directors. His experience also includes a stint as chairman/ceo of Interstate Hotels & Resorts. Tisch says, "with Paul's tenure and experience in the industry, we will continue to operate the properties in our portfolio, while also looking for additions to the company through acquisition, development and management.” Loews Hotels owns and/or operates 18 hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Canada.
