Wyndham, Hyatt and Starwood detail plans
Executives from the world’s largest hotel chains are in Mumbai this week for the annual Hotel Investment Forum India (HIFI) and making a series of announcements about their expansion plans for that country. Among the hoteliers disclosing such plans are:
Wyndham Hotel Group, which said it will launch its Howard Johnson brand in India in conjunction with Unique Mercantile India Private Ltd. The partners plan to open 35 HoJos with a total of 3,000 rooms across the country by 2017.
Hyatt Hotels Corp., which said it will introduce its new Hyatt House extended-stay brand with a locale in Mumbai, and that Hyatt affiliates signed management agreements for an additional seven full-service hotels and 14 select-service hotels in the country.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., which said it will open about 20 additional hotels in India within the next several yeas, including the first representatives of its W and St. Regis flags.
