68-story structure will house two hotels
Marriott International is developing a 68-story property at Broadway and 54th street in New York. The building will house the 378-key Courtyard by Marriott hotel and the 261-key Residence Inn by Marriott hotel. Designed by architect Nobutaka Ashihara, the building will rise 752 ft., nine in. high, making it the tallest stand-alone hotel building without office or residential space in New York. Both hotels will open in late 2013.
“We are thrilled that this development is becoming a reality and will feature two of our strongest brands at such a premier location," says David Marriott, chief operations officer, Eastern Region, The Americas. The two locales will share a main entrance, lobby and fitness facility. The property will also feature leased restaurant and retail space and a lounge and terrace with outdoor seating on the fifth floor. The property is being developed under a franchise agreement with Marriott and ownership group Granite Broadway Development and will be managed by Interstate Hotels and Resorts.
