HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:
Marriott International hired Paul Adan as vice president of development, Latin America. Adan has 15 years of experience in the region with Hilton International, Sol Melia and NH Hotels.
Carlson hired James Baldassari as vice president of development for its full-service hotels in the Northeast and Midwest. Baldassari was most recently director of franchise development, New England, at Wyndham Worldwide.
Orient-Express Hotels’ chairman James Hurlock and founder and director James Sherwood are retiring from the board. Sherwood will serve as chairman emeritus. The company says the board expects longtime direct Jesse Robert (Bob) Lovejoy to become chairman following its annual meeting in June.
The 1,000-key Omni Dallas Hotel, which will open in early 2012, has made the following appointments: Nils Stolzlechner, general manager; Rick LaValley, director of finance; James Cannon, director of engineering; Charles Riley, director of food and beverage; and Barbara Doucet, director of human resources.
Del Mar Development hired Lionel Álvarez as managing director of resort services. Álvarez was formerly managing director of the five-star Hotel Las Ventanas al Paraíso.
Architecture and interior design firm Vocon hired Tony Bandy-Zalatoris as a project architect and Theresa Vitale as a project designer. Both formerly worked for Forum Architectural Services.
Einstein Noah Restaurant Group hired Brian Unger as executive vice president of operations and Mike Ellis as executive vice president of franchise and restaurant development. Unger and Ellis join the company from McDonalds and O’Charley’s, respectively.
Sceptre Hospitality Resources, a revenue generation and eCommerce firm, hired Will Loughran as vice president of revenue management. Loughran’s experience includes stints with Sage Hospitality Resources and Marriott.
Bob Evans Farms hired Mark Mears as president and chief concept officer of Mimi's Café. Mears was formerly senior vice president and chief marketing officer for the Cheesecake Factory.

Carlson opened the 65-key Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in Georgetown, Ky.
The 97-key Best Western Premier Freeport Inn & Suites opened in Calgary, Alb, Canada.
Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Denver completed a renovation of its 189 guest rooms designed by Susan Caruso.
Seasons 52 will open a restaurant at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y., in spring 2012
Furniture maker Skyline Design opened a showroom on the 15th floor of The Design Center at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
LongHorn Steakhouse opened a 6,380-sq.-ft. restaurant in Toledo, Ohio.
MANAGEMENT CONTRACTS/ACQUISITIONS:
Huntington Hospitality Management, an affiliate of Huntington Hotel Group, will manage the Courtyard by Marriott Houston I-10 West.
Tootie Pie Co. acquired the Silver Spoon Bakery in Austin, Texas.
