Marriott International hired Sharilyn Abbajay as vice president of global spas and retail. Abbajay will be responsible for nearly 100 spas worldwide. Abbajay's career includes stints at Neill Corp./Aveda Corp., Elizabeth Arden Salons and Noelle, a division of the Gillette Co.
Hilton Worldwide hired William “Bill” F. Kornegay, Jr. as senior vice president, Hilton supply management. Kornegay was previously at Godiva Chocolatier, where he most recently served as senior vice president, global supply chain
Interstate Hotels & Resorts hired Edward J. Blum as executive vice president, development and acquisitions.
Hotel Matilda hired Claudia Sierra, formerly lead therapist at the St. Regis Hotel Mexico City, as spa director.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts opened the 418-key Element New York Times Square West.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts opened the 626-room Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort located inside the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) opened the 128-key Holiday Inn Express Cuiabá in Brazil.
Hyatt Hotels & Resorts opened the 214-key Hyatt Place Houston/Sugar Land in Texas.
Novotel, Accor's mid-scale hotel brand, opened the 149-key Novotel Toronto Vaughan Centre.
