HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:
Stephane Masson has been promoted to vice president, global procurement, for Marriott International Inc.
Hard Rock International has hired Nelson Parker as head of development, Americas, for its Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos unit. Parker was previously vice president of development for Foxwoods Development Co.
STR, a provider of global hotel data, has appointed Amanda Hite chief strategy officer and Brad Garner chief operations officer.
Hyatt Hotels Corp. has hired Rena Hozore Reiss as general counsel and secretary. Reiss was previously senior vice president and associate general counsel at Marriott International.
Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. has elected Georg Rafael to the new post of vice chairman of its board.
Roger Clark has been named managing partner of CHM Partners LLC, a new division of Capital Hotel Management that was created to acquire hotels.
Arby's Restaurant Group Inc. has appointed Warren Chang to the newly created post of chief innovation officer for taste, quality and the customer experience.
OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:
The Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel in Weehawken, N.J., is undergoing an $18-million renovation that includes updates to its lobby, guest rooms and meeting spaces, and the upcoming opening of new Masina Trattoria Italiana restaurant in July.
Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has opened the 329-key Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. The property previously operated under the Four Seasons flag.
Choice Hotels International Inc. has started work on its first Suburban Extended Stay Hotel properties for Canada: an 89-key property in Estevan, Saskatchewan, and a 70-room locale Thompson, Manitoba. Both hotels are slated to open in early 2011.
The Windsor Hotel in Americus, Ga., is now operating under the Best Western Plus flag. The 53-key property first opened in 1892.
The new 403-room, LEED-registered Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway will open Aug. 4.
California Pizza Kitchen Inc. has opened a 5,400-sq.-ft. restaurant in the Fashion Place Mall in Murray, Utah.
Bistro Sabor, a contemporary Latin American street-food restaurant, has opened in downtown Napa, Calif. The eatery is the creation of Ariel Ceja, son of Amelia and Pedro Ceja, owners of the Ceja Vineyards.
AWARDS:
StandardVision has won a 2010 IES Illumination Award and a 2010 Lumen West Award from the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) for its lighting design for the City of Dreams, an urban entertainment complex along the Cotai Strip in Macau, China
Solutia Inc. announced the following jury members for its first annual Solutia World of Color Awards: Inspired by Vanceva: Shashi Caan, founder of the Shashi Caan Collective; Fermín Vázquez, founder of b720 Arquitectos; Andrew Moor, principal of Andrew Moor Associates; Jeeyong An, a principal of GinsengChicken Architecture; and Denise Turner, founder of Color Turners.
Caroma, a manufacturer of high efficiency, dual-flush toilets for commercial and residential uses, earned a special mention from New York House magazine's Innovative Green Design Awards competition for its multi-purpose Profile Smart fixture.
