Fast-food giant McDonald's Corp. is targeting 500 new units in China in three years according to a Reuters report. Brian Durkin, vice president of development in China, said the aggressive expansion plan reflects McDonald's optimism about China's business potential. It hasn't hurt that new offers such as 24-hour delivery, breakfast, value meal combinations and lower prices contributed to the Oakbrook, Ill.-based company's 7.1 percent increase in global January sales (at restaurants open 13 months or more). About 175 units are slated to come on line before year's end.
