Construction has started on the 150-acre WaterLights District, a $700 million mixed-use development near Houston that will include three hotels with a total of 700 rooms. Historic Real Estate Inc. is developing the project, which will include office, hotels, restaurants, boutique retail and residential spaces, along with a 7,500-seat enclosed arena and a 12-acre park. (The company did not disclose operators of the hotels planned for the site.) Located near Texas Medical Center, the WaterLights project will also have 1,400 residential units, including condominiums, brownstones and luxury apartments.
