HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/EXECUTIVE CHANGES

Colliers International announced that executive managing directors Mike Mixer and Dharmesh Patel will lead Colliers International Hotels USA, which specializes in hospitality real estate investment advisory services 

Avila Design, a Berkeley, Calif.-based architectural firm, has named Pia-Jacqlyn Malinis as its first brand manager.

Castle Resorts & Hotels has hired Robin Graf as vice president of operations. Graf has more than 20 years of senior level hospitality management experience, including a recent stint as general manager of the 350-key Kauai Beach Resort.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

Jumeirah has opened Vittaveli Maldives ultra-luxury resort. The property features 91 villa-suites, three restaurants, a bar, the Talise Spa and facilities for young children and teenagers.

Rezidor has opened the 168-key Radisson Blu Hotel Batumi in the country of Georgia.

The 329-key Hilton Concord Hotel, located in the East Bay of San Francisco, is incorporating environmental and sustainable systems into its multimillion dollar renovation that will be completed in the near future.

The 130-key DoubleTree by Hilton Santa Fe opened in New Mexico. Formerly a Holiday Inn, the hotel will undergo a multimillion dollar hotel redesign project in the coming months.

The 80-key Holiday Inn Express Atlanta I-85 Clairmont reopened after a $1.4 million conversion from a Wingate by Wyndham hotel. The hotel underwent updates to the exterior, public areas and guest rooms.

A 6,000-sq.-ft. Old Homestead Steakhouse opened in Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Creperie restaurant has opened on Newbury Street in Boston.

White Lodging promoted Martina Ward to director of sales at the Courtyard by Marriott and the Residence Inn by Marriott in Happy Valley, Ariz.

ACQUISITIONS

Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. has completed the purchase of the assets of three additional Cadillac Ranch All American Bar & Grill restaurants—in Oxon Hill and Annapolis, Md, and Indianapolis—for an aggregate purchase price of about $3.3 million. The company also acquired Cadillac Ranch intellectual property from Restaurant Entertainment Group LLC for about $1.5 million.

7 Days Group Holdings Ltd., a China-based economy hotel chain, has acquired Hunan Huatian Star Hotel Management Ltd. from Huatian Star's parent company, Huatian Hotel Group Co. Ltd. The company gained ownership of the 21 leased-and-operated Huatian Star hotels across 12 cities in China including Changsha, Wuhan and Zhengzhou.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

The Mosaic Co., a major landowner in central Florida, has named PCL Construction Services Inc. general contractor for its 228-key Streamsong Resort project, which is planned for a former phosphate mine site in Polk County, between Tampa and Orlando, Fla. The complex’s lakeside golf clubhouse—which will feature 12 guest rooms, a restaurant, meeting space and a lounge—is set to open in late 2012. The main lodge and other resort amenities will open in fall 2013.

Bath manufacturer Hansgrohe and its designer brand, Axor, have launched a new, multi-interface web site. Updates include a new Hansgrohe PRO portal, which serves architects, designers and trade; interactive design/trend ideas and planning programs; and a water-savings calculator.
