The eco-friendly Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., will be the site of The Climate Project's North American Summit, May 14-16. The Climate Project (TCP) is a non-profit organization founded by former Vice President Al Gore.
"The Hutton Hotel's commitment to sustainability and conservation made it the natural choice for us in terms of locations for our North American Summit," said TCP executive director Jenny Clad. "We are excited to be hosting our event at the Hutton, Nashville's newest hotel in Al Gore's hometown, and to be bringing more than 500 committed TCP climate-change ambassadors from across the U.S. and Canada to the area for this significant event."
The hotel's environmentally friendly features include energy-efficient LED and fluorescent lighting, bamboo furniture and flooring, low-energy EcoDisc elevators and card readers that automatically turn off lights when rooms are unoccupied.
The hotel opened earlier this year in a former office building. It has 248 guest rooms and 13,600 square feet of meeting space. The $50 million project is a development of Philadelphia-based Amerimar Enterprises, which specializes in renovating and repositioning office, hotel, retail, multi-family and mixed-use properties.
