Romano's Macaroni Grill, operator of 200-plus Italian-style casual restaurants, has a new ceo and cfo. The chain, owned by Golden Gate Capital, has named Norman Abdallah ceo and Carey Carrington as cfo. They replace Brad Blum and former chief operating officer Bob Mock, respectively, who “left the company to pursue other interests,” Romano's said in a news release.
The chain's statement described Abdallah and Carrington as “highly experienced executives with a combined 30 years of senior leadership experience in the restaurant industry,” but provided no details on their backgrounds. Nation's Restaurant News reports that Abdallah was previously president and chief executive at Seattle-based multiconcept operator Restaurants Unlimited Inc. before leaving that role earlier this month. Abdallah also served as chief executive at Fired Up Inc., parent of the Carino's Italian casual-dining chain.
Carrington, Macaroni Grill's new cfo, also is a veteran of Fired Up, where he once served as president and cfo. Both Abdallah and Carrington left Fired Up in 2008 to join Amer International, an Egyptian-based hospitality company and Carino's licensee, according to NRN.
