Local franchisee offering card rooms at two locales

A Seattle-area franchisee for the Hooters restaurant chain will soon open two locales in that market, both of which will feature a card rooms. The new restaurant/casinos – in Seattle's South Park and Renton, Wash. -- will open on September 24 and in early October, respectively.
The South Park property – located in a former Rascals Casino -- will also feature a dueling piano bar, while the Renton site will include a contemporary bowling lounge sporting the chain's signature orange and white colors.
“Everyone we talk to about this concept is immediately excited,” said Ed Pilarz, president of Altium Development, parent company of the local Hooters franchise. “It's an idea that just makes sense because the target consumer of Hooters is so well-matched with the local casino player We estimate that 75 percent of local casino patrons are casual players and so a restaurant with a casual, unpretentious and fun atmosphere is going to increase casino business and vice versa.”
