Callison-designed locale to feature four hotels
Rubicon Group Holding has hired architecture/design firm Callison to create the master plan and design for a $1 billion, 184-acre themed entertainment resort in the Aqaba, Jordan. Slated to open in 2014, The Red Sea Astrarium (TRSA) will be a family destination that will include four hotels, restaurants, shops, performance venues and themed attractions.
Described by its developers as a “next-generation themed resort,” the destination will be located within a crater in Jabal Al Matal in the mountains above the Red Sea. It will feature a new “Star Trek” adventure ride,and is being developed by Paramount Recreation and CBS Consumer Products.
“TRSA will be a destination showcase in an extraordinary part of Jordan,” said Randa Ayoubi, ceo of Rubicon Holding Group.
The Callison team is being led by principal-in-charge Mark Ludtka and design principal Bill Lacey. Callison offices in the U.S. and the Middle East will assist in the project.
