Oceania Cruises has launched a multimillion dollar initiative to update and enhance its fleet. The “Pillars of Distinction” program – which the company says represents the most significant product investment in its history -- includes updates and additions to its ships' staterooms, suites and dining venues.

The 684-guest Nautica is the first Oceania ship to be renovated under the “Pillars” initiative, having re-entered service earlier this month. Its sister ship, Insignia, will be upgraded in November, followed by the Regatta in January 2011. All work will occur during regularly scheduled dry-docks.

The “Pillars” upgrades will also be incorporated on Oceania Cruises' two new ships, currently under construction in Italy. The 1,258-guest Marina joins the fleet in January 2011 and a sister ship, Riviera, is scheduled for delivery in April 2012.

“Oceania Cruises has set new industry standards since we launched the line nearly eight years ago,” said Frank Del Rio, the line's founder and chairman/ceo Prestige Cruise Holdings, Oceania's parent company. “With our new ‘Pillars of Distinction' initiative, we have raised the bar in upper-premium cruising to ensure that the Oceania Cruises experience remains unmatched.”
