HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:

J/Brice Design International Inc. has named Khalid Latif senior vice president, Middle East operations and new business development.

Choice Hotels International Inc. has promoted Todd Davis to the new post of chief technology officer.

HVS Global Hospitality Services has hired Miguel Rivera as senior vice president of its asset management and strategic advisory team.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:

Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. has sold the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans to The Berger Co. Inc. for $44.25 million. Orient Express said its sold the 226-key hotel because New Orleans market is dominated by corporate and conference business, not the leisure traveler that is its core customer. In addition, Orient-Express has relaunched the Hotel das Cataratas following a renovation. The 193-room property is located near the Iguassu Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said it will open four Aloft Hotels this month, in the following cities: Phoenix; Mount Laurel, N.J.; Bolingbrook, Ill.; and Charlotte, N.C.

The Raleigh hotel in Miami's South Beach has been acquired by Brilla Group, a Miami-based real estate private equity firm, and AJ Capital Partners, a Chicago-based real estate investment company. Terms of the deal for the 105-room property were not disclosed.

Seasons 52, a fresh grill and wine bar restaurant, will open its 12th locale in fall 2010, in the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Choice Hotels Europe has opened the 30-room Clarion Collection Opera Pavillon hotel in Paris.

White Lodging has opened a dual property in Phoenix consisting of a Courtyard by Marriott and the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Phoenix/Chandler Fashion Center.

Commonwealth Hotels Inc. has opened a101-room Hampton Inn & Suites in Tucson, Ariz.

Doubletree Hotels has opened a 212-room property in Rochester, Minn., in a former Radisson locale in the city's downtown.

BUSINESS BRIEFS:

The Hilton Akron/Fairlawn said it has becomes the only Hilton franchise in the world to reach 40 years in business under the same continuous ownership.
