Carlson hired Simon Barlow as president of Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific. Barlow has 30 years of experience, including stints with Accor, Hilton International and Millennium and Copthorne Hotels.
Lane Hospitality promoted Ginny Morrison to vice president, sales and marketing.
Omni Hotels & Resorts hired David Morgan as vice president, food and beverage. Earlier in his career, Morgan managed the Omni Los Angeles Hotel and the Omni Tucson National Resort.
Orient-Express Hotels hired Raymond Blanc, founder and chef patron of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire, England, as vice president.
CiCi's Pizza hired Deb Chappell as director of real estate services and support. Chappell formerly led expansion efforts for Chili's Grill & Bar, Romano's Macaroni Grill and BJ's Restaurants.
Johnny Rockets hired these four executives to fuel its growth plans. Cris Pangan, executive director of development; Alan Greenguard, director of real estate; Burt Wright, director of training and development and Larry Litton, regional director of operations.

Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants rebranded the 100-key Best Western Truckee Tahoe Lodge in California as the Larkspur Hotel Truckee-Tahoe.
The Hilton Inn at Penn in Philadelphia started a multi-million dollar renovation of its 238 guest rooms and suites.
Smashburger, a "better burger" restaurant, partnered with 25/20 Management to open three restaurants in Brooklyn, N.Y. The company also has franchise agreements to open 20 locations in Long Island.
Zinburger opened a location in Clifton, N.J., bringing its gourmet burger and wine restaurant concept to the East Coast.
BUSINESS BRIEFS
Color authority Pantone LLC has named an intense pink shade dubbed “honeysuckle” as its color of the year for 2011. “Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going—perfect to ward off the blues,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, which polls designers around the world to gauge which colors will have the broadest appeal in the year ahead.
LaSalle Hotel Properties acquired the 113-key Chamerlain West Hollywood for $38.5 million.
Gemstone Hotels & Resorts will manage the 66-room Tivoli Lodge in Vail, Colo.
Marshall Hotels & Resorts was appointed receiver for the 145-key Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Suites Allentown Airport in Pennsylvania, and the 114-key Holiday Inn Danbury in Connecticut. The company will also operate the 199-key Holiday Inn Buffalo Amherst Hotel in New York.

Hotel management company Aqua Hotels & Resorts added the 312-room Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Hawaii to its portfolio.
John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts will manage the Mesquite Exhibit Hall, an event space is connected to the 214-key Hampton Inn & Suites and Convention Center in suburban Dallas that's also managed by the company.

George Beylerian, founder and ceo of Material ConneXion and Culture & Commerce, won the 2010 Design Visionary Award from the Museum of Art and Design in New York.
