Petrossian Paris, an international purveyor of caviar products, has remodeled its West Hollywood, Calif., café/boutique to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary on the West Coast. The updated design is by David Davis of Los Angeles-based Studio Davis, who created separate entrances and dedicated spaces for the café and adjacent retail boutique.
For the exterior, Davis drew on a palette of grey cerulean blue used from the time of Louis V and Madame Pompadour to match the Petrossian shops in Europe and New York, and prominently highlights the property's street presence with the vivid red lettering of the Petrossian marquee on the facade.
Inside, Davis used deep blue-grey Galucha, a synthetic stingray skin with pebbled surface reminiscent of caviar pearls, to bring texture to the space. The dining room is dressed with casual table settings and large-scale artwork from the nearby Walter Findlay Gallery. The boutique also features an open kitchen, a communal "tasting table" and floor-to ceiling windows. The space's 15-foot high ceilings are accented by exposed turn-of-the-century Paris steel trusses.
In addition to the West Hollywood locale, the family-owned enterprise operates boutiques, restaurants and cafes in Paris, Monaco, New York and Las Vegas.
