Mumbai-based Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts has promoted Rajiv Kaul to president.

Kerzner International Holdings Ltd. has hired Bruce Himelstein as executive vice president/chief marketing officer. Himelstein was previously corporate senior vice president of sales and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.

Loews Hotels has promoted Jefferson Lam to the newly-created position of director, capital projects.

Home Inns & Hotels Management Inc., an economy hotel chain in China, has promoted May Wu to chief strategy officer and Huiping Yan to chief financial officer, effective May 1.

Whitbread, a U.K.-based hotel and restaurant chain, has hired Andy Harrison as its ceo, effective later this year. Harrison, currently ceo of EasyJet PLC, will replace current Whitbread ceo Alan Parker, who is retiring in November.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has named chief financial officer Vasant Prabhu vice chairman.

Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc. has promoted the following: Ken Cruse, to executive vice president and chief financial officer; Marc Hoffman, to executive vice president and chief operating officer; Bryan Giglia, to senior vice president-corporate finance; Lindsay Monge, to senior vice president and treasurer; Michael Harvey, to vice president-asset management; Evan Pohaski, to vice president-corporate transactions; and David Sloan, to vice president-legal.

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. has opened the $380 million River City Casino in South St. Louis County, Mo. The gaming complex features a 90,000-square-foot casino and several restaurants, including a Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, the 1904 Beerhouse , Burger Brothers, The Great Food Exposition buffet, Lewy Nine's Café and Judy's Velvet Lounge.

The Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel Philadelphia has completed a five-year, $22 million renovation. Carlson Hotels owns and manages the 301-key hotel.

ING Clarion Partners has renamed The Blue, a recently opened 240-room luxury condo hotel in suburban Miami, as the Hyatt Miami at The Blue, and hired Davidson Hotel Co. as its new operator.

Best Western International has opened the Best Western Pichi's Hotel Convention Center and Casino in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. The 136-key property is owned by Luis Emmanuelli.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Duralee has been named exclusive distributor in the U.S. for Clarke & Clarke, a U.K.-based producer of fabric and wallcoverings.

Sealy will open a new mattress manufacturing facility outside of Shanghai, China, later this year. The company said the 100,000-sq. ft. plant is designed to meet growing demand for its hospitality products throughout Asia.
