Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. has unveiled updated, expanded plans for its casino and hotel in Baton Rouge, La., that includes doubling the number of hotel rooms at the complex to 200, as well as a larger gaming floor and the addition of a covered parking garage. As a result, the total price tag for the destination, which is slated to open in December 2011, is now projected to be $357 million, up from the previous estimate of $250 million.

Earlier this year, Pinnacle began construction of the riverboat casino and site excavation activities for the project, which is located on a 575-acre site in south Baton Rouge. The company's expansion plans for the site are subject to approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

“Our updated plan for the Baton Rouge project reflects our focus on developing and operating facilities that offer 'best-in-market' casino entertainment experiences while adhering to a disciplined approach to capital spending and expansion,” said Anthony Sanfilippo, Pinnacle's president and ceo. “Current market research indicates that a very significant portion of the adult population in the Baton Rouge region bypasses existing gaming options and travels two to three hours to other gaming markets. The expanded scope of our project will address this customer demand with a high-quality entertainment option that will be significantly closer to potential guests.”
