Renovated and rechristened vessel to set sail later this month

P&O Cruises has taken delivery of its seventh ship, Adonia, which will sail adult-only itineraries. Built in 2001, the former Royal Princess is currently getting a makeover in the Bahamas before traveling later this month to Southampton, U.K., to launch its inaugural cruise season.

Adonia will be the jewel in the P&O Cruises crown and will celebrate all those things our regular passengers love about cruising with us—a classic dance floor, Crow’s Nest observation lounge, formal nights, classical music recitals, guest speakers, silver service dining and a dedicated card room,” said Carol Marlow, managing director of P&O, a unit of Carnival Corp.

The 30-ton ship will be able to carry up to 710 passengers, a size that will allow it to cruise to “lesser-visited, off-the-beaten-track ports of call,” P&O says. The ship’s onboard amenities will include four restaurants, eight bars and an Oasis spa.
