Pod Hotel Possible in Piccadilly

(August 2009) posted on Tue Aug 25, 2009 EDT

The owner of the London Trocadero on Piccadilly Circus is seeking permission to create a 495-room "pod" hotel in the building. Golfrate Properties' proposal is being reviewed by the Westminster council, the local governmental body responsible for the central London district housing the Trocadero.

According to LeisureOpportunties.com, the budget hotel "is likely to be operated by French company Accor and will occupy part of the second to seventh floors in the building, offering en-suite rooms with an average size of 12 to 17square meters (129 to 183 square feet)." The floors that would house the hotel have been vacant since the Segaworld indoor theme park established by the Japanese video game company exited the property, the web site reports.
