Quinlan Looks to Expand Maybourne Globally

(December 2008) posted on Tue Dec 30, 2008 EST

In an effort to grow his Maybourne Hotel Group, Irish financier Derek Quinlan has hired  investment bank Lazard to advise him on strategies for taking his London-based luxury hotel group international, The Irish Times reported. The newspaper says it believes Quinlan is looking to develop in Dubai, Moscow, New York and Paris. Maybourne's iconic portfolio currently consists of the Connaught, which had a $101.5 million renovation, and the Berkeley and Claridge's, which will receive $362.5 million in refurbishments. The Times  (London) also reports rumors that Quilan may be courting sovereign wealth funds or a $1.4 billion float-a move only for the "steely hearted," according to The Times.
