Red Roof has opened its first "NextGen" new-build property in Locust Grove, Ga., and said a second will open in Beaumont, Texas, in June. The new-look properties feature more upscale public areas and guest rooms than the economy lodging chain's predecessor designs. "It's the basics kicked up a notch," says Rob Wallace, senior vice president of franchise.
Red Roof said eight NextGen hotels are under construction; 25 locations are under contract and due to start construction soon; and that a total of 50 NextGen properties are in the pipeline.
