Red Roof said it will start rolling out a new look at its 350 properties nationwide this month. The economy lodging chain said its NextGen design incorporates features that its customers asked for, including additional power outlets, flatscreen TVs, wood-like flooring, updated lighting and more bathroom counter space.

“NextGen represents our commitment to meeting the needs and wants of our owners and guests, delivering midscale quality and comfort at an affordable price, made possible through smart design and value-engineering,” said Red Roof president Andrew Alexander. “When someone is traveling, they want to feel at home, or better. With NextGen, we’re giving them that experience at a value.”

The Red Roof Miami Airport property will be the first to sport the new-look interiors and exteriors. The company said it plans to spend about $90 million to upgrade its hotels to the NextGen interior and exterior design standards.
