HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:
The Rocco Forte Collection has appointed Karim Naffah managing director. Naffah has acted as a consultant to the company since July 2009. The company said Naffah's appointment will enable group founder and executive chairman Sir Rocco Forte to devote more time to spearheading the expansion of the business, primarily via management contracts.
The Dow Hotel Co. LLC, a hotel ownership investment and management company, has hired C.A. Anderson as president and chief operating officer. A 25-year hospitality veteran, Anderson was previously executive vice president of acquisitions and development for Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
Ruby Tuesday, a casual-dining restaurant chain, has hired Dan Dillon as its senior vice president of brand development. Dillon was previously at OSI Restaurant Partners, where he served as chief marketing officer for the Outback Steakhouse chain.
Symmons Industries has promoted Jeffrey Reilly to president, with responsibility for the company's marketing, sales, engineering and operations groups. Reilly joined the Braintree, Mass.-based manufacturer of commercial and residential plumbing products in 2007.
OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced it will open a luxury hotel and high-end residences within the Osaka Station North Yard Development Project in Osaka, Japan. The project – slated to include a 200-key hotel and 50 residences – is slated to open in 2013. The development will mark the debut of the InterContinental brand in Osaka, as well as the first InterContinental residences in Japan.
JAL Hotels Co. Ltd. has opened the 382-room Hotel Nikko Shanghai. The 25-story property is located in the city's Hongqiao Development Zone, which is also home to the Shanghai Mart and International Exhibition Centre.
Rezidor Hotel Group announced that its eight-story, 281-key Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Brussels, has become the first hotel in that city to gain Green Key status for its environmental efforts.
The Johnny Rockets restaurant chain has opened its first South American restaurant, in Santiago, Chile.

CarVal Investors has sold the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel for $17.3 million to trio of local investors: RAM Corp. attorney Rick Fried and Castle Resorts & Hotels, which will continue to manage the .
BUSINESS BRIEFS:
Blue Leaf Hospitality announced it has been named the exclusive North American distributor of MAMAGREEN, a Belgian-based design and manufacturer of high-end sustainable outdoor furniture.
Architectural Systems Inc. has added an e-commerce platform to its web site that offers seven in-stock material collections for immediate purchase. The new platform, ASI Online, offers the following: Sculptured Collection, Tin Ceilings, ASI Eco Porcelain, ASI Hardwood Flooring V, and ASI Organic, Spa and Wood Vinyl Collections.
Kimball Hospitality has opened a new manufacturing facility in Martinsville, Va. The 60,000-sq.-ft. facility will house administrative offices, a showroom and state-of-the-art production operations to make upholstered seating products for hospitality guest rooms and public spaces. The plant represents a $1 million investment by Kimball, and also resulted in the creation of 67 new jobs.
