Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer Opens in Las Vegas
The first Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer has opened at Excalibur Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The 8,000-sq.-ft. restaurant/bar/music club is a joint venture between the rock band and Las Vegas-based Drive This! Entertainment. The partners say they plan to open other outlets around the country, but did not offer any specifics.
Backers of the Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer restaurant say it is designed to capture the spirit of the band’s “Hell House,” an old tin-roof cabin where members wrote most of the songs for its first two albums. In keeping with that motif, the space features walls made of 150-year old barnyard wood, concrete floors and aged brick. Its tables are made from floors of grain barns whose surfaces bear hoof marks made by livestock.
