(August 2009) posted on Thu Aug 06, 2009 EDT

The Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles has hired interior designers David Rockwell and Alexandra Champalimaud to update the iconic property, which will close this fall for a two-year, multimillion dollar renovation. The project will include updates to the hotel's 91 rooms and suites, its Champagne Bar and restaurant/private dining rooms. In addition, 12 villas will be developed within the hotel's 12-acre grounds, and a new spa will be built on the property.

"While the Hotel Bel-Air continues to rank as one of the top hotels in the world, the renovation project will revitalize it and bring it up to date," general manager Tim Lee said in statement. "Our guests absolutely love this hotel, it is a home away from home for many and our vision for the newly renovated Hotel Bel-Air is to create somewhere that will enchant both local residents and international travelers alike"
