Indian hotelier looks to double its size
Bangalore-based Royal Orchid Hotels said it plans to raise $32 million to help double its size. A company official told The Economic Times of India that the funds will be raised through a mix of debt and equity, and would be used to help Royal Orchid Hotels' total room capacity to 2,000 by the end of its next fiscal year.
“We have projects underway in Jaipur, Hyderabad, Hospet and Shimoga (Karnataka), Mumbai and Mussoorie. Subject to shareholders' approval, the money will be used to fund the construction of new properties,” the official told The Economic Times.
Royal Orchid currently has 13 hotels with a total of 1,000 rooms in seven Indian cities.
