Teaming with Gami Group to open up to a dozen locales
Sarku Japan, the largest Japanese quick-service restaurant chain in the U.S., plans to make its international debut by entering Vietnam via a franchise agreement with Gami Group, one of the largest and oldest private business groups in that country.
The two companies plan to open 10 to 12 Sarku Japan Teriyaki and Sushi Express restaurants within the next three years. “We are excited to be expanding the reach of the Sarku Japan brand and entering into our first international franchise relationship,” said Ben Kitay, the company's president. "Our partner, Gami Group, brings years of proven experience introducing new brands to Vietnam, while ensuring high standards and an exemplary experience for our new customers abroad.”
Building on its base of restaurants in mall food courts throughout the U.S., Sarku Japan recently introduced Teriyaki and Sushi Express, its new stand alone concept and quick-service restaurant franchise concept. The company, which currently has about 200 restaurants in 37 U.S. states, hopes to open 1,000 new units worldwide over the next 10 years.
