IHG locale to open in 2013
The Hotel Indigo chain plans to open its second locale in New York. The 290-room hotel is slated to open in 2013 at 180 Orchard St., on the city’s the Lower East Side.
The project is a joint development between Brack Capital Real Estate and the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which acquired the site at180 Orchard St. for about $46 million.
“This prime development site presents an untapped opportunity to create a project that will benefit neighborhood residents while adding value to the area overall," said Issac Hera, Brack Capital’s ceo. “Our strategic relationship has set the stage for many future projects with IHG and we are honored to bring this development site to fruition and offer the community a completed, expertly managed project that will help this dynamic neighborhood further flourish.”
Its backers say the new Hotel Indigo will feature soaring ceilings and upper-level guest rooms with unobstructed city views. It will also house a restaurant, bar, fitness center and outdoor pool. Hotel Indigo, an IHG unit, also operates a locale in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood.
