Eastern Mediterranean restaurant opens in SoHo
Pera Soho Eastern Mediterranean restaurant has opened on Thompson Street in the Soho neighborhood of New York. In addition to its 80-seat interior, which includes a bar and lounge, the locale will open a 2,000-sq.-ft. garden. The outdoor space will be warmed by heat lamps and a fire pit, and will offer an additional 90 seats when it opens this spring.
Pera Soho’s design is differentiated from its midtown Manhattan counterpart, the five-year-old Pera Mediterranean Brasserie, with an edgier environment that features polished custom wood tables and cream leather chairs. The space also includes custom murals that depict landmarks from the Pera neighborhood of Istanbul, and photographs of street scenes from the 1800s etched on bronzed mirrors.
The restaurant, which was originally slated to open in fall 2011, was designed by DYAMI Architect, in conjunction with owner Burak Karacam.
